Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor stepdown patients closely — catch subtle changes early and act decisively
• Perform focused neurological assessments including NIHSS for stroke patients
• Provide advanced cardiac and critical care support consistent with ACLS protocols
• Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary teams to create smooth, effective plans
• Complete Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing to maintain high standards
• Administer medications and treatments safely, and document care accurately and promptly
• Educate patients and families with compassion so they feel informed and supported during recovery

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (valid and verifiable)
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• TNCC certification
• NIHSS competency/certification or demonstrated experience performing NIHSS
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity specialty-specific competency testing
• Required health documentation: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, MMR, Hepatitis B, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, physical/health statement, Trinity COVID questionnaire, COVID-19 vaccine, and influenza vaccine

Knowledge & Skills

• Stepdown nursing and close patient monitoring
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Familiarity with stroke assessment tools (NIHSS) and post-acute care needs
• Cardiac monitoring and response per ACLS guidelines
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and the care team
• Accurate clinical documentation and adherence to unit policies and competencies
