Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide focused post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery, ensuring safe transition to the next level of care
• Continuously assess and monitor vital signs, pain control, and airway status to catch changes quickly
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and unit staff to deliver coordinated patient-centered care
• Administer medications and advanced interventions per protocol, documenting responses and outcomes
• Educate patients and families about recovery expectations and discharge instructions with empathy and clarity
• Participate in competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high standards of practice
• Respond to on-call situations and assist with unit flow during high-volume periods

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential — license verification required
• Experience or competency in PACU/post-anesthesia care
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications (as listed) or willingness to obtain
• Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
• Required health screenings and immunizations (fit test, drug screen, MMR, Hep B, PPD/IGRA, Varicella, physical/health statement, COVID questionnaire, COVID vaccine, influenza vaccine)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia recovery principles and airway management
• Excellent patient assessment and monitoring skills
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV management in the PACU setting
• Comfortable working collaboratively with anesthesia and surgical teams
• Good documentation practices and the ability to follow unit protocols
• Adaptability to varied shift lengths and on-call responsibilities
