Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Days: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM; Nights: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM), schedule set by manager, weekends every other; 12-hour day and night coverage (day/night rotating)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality intermediate and stepdown cardiac patient care in a CVU/stepdown setting
- Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret ECG strips to detect changes in patient status
- Titrate and manage vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drips such as amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine and diltiazem
- Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with cardiology, hospitalists, intensivists and the multidisciplinary team for timely interventions
- Support thoracic, EP and cath lab patients, including post-surgical cardiac care in the first 24 hours
- Troubleshoot and assist with respiratory equipment like BiPAP and CPAP and escalate to RT as needed
- Participate in unit orientation, complete required competency exam and meet the 90% pass standard
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for Nebraska submission
- Mandatory certifications: BLS, ACLS and NIHSS at time of submittal
- Minimum 1 year experience with cardiac/stepdown or intermediate care patient population (note: job details also list 2 years experience)
- Comfort and experience titrating drips and managing cardiac meds
- Proven ability to read and interpret telemetry and ECG strips
- Facility-specific requirements: driver’s license at submittal and adherence to fingernail/artificial nail policy
- Ability to pass a unit skills exam during orientation (90% required)
Education
- Valid RN license required
- BSN not required (Associate degree/diploma acceptable)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and ECG/strip interpretation
- Drip titration and management of vasoactive/antiarrhythmic medications
- Familiarity with EPIC charting system
- Experience caring for CVICU downgrades, thoracic, EP and cath lab patients
- Basic airway/respiratory troubleshooting including BiPAP and CPAP
- Strong clinical judgment, prioritization and teamwork in acute cardiac settings
- Comfort floating to same or lower levels of acuity when needed
