Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for MedSurg Tele and PCU patients, including elderly, ortho and post-cardiac procedure patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret ECGs and dysrhythmias to detect and escalate changes promptly
• Titrate IV drips safely (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Insulin) and manage set-rate infusions
• Manage post-procedural and post-op care (including CABG days 3-4 and groin-site care) with attention to detail
• Collaborate with monitor techs, physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and transfers
• Document thoroughly in Cerner to ensure continuity and compliance
• Float between units as needed, including inpatient holds in the ED, maintaining patient safety and unit ratios
• Serve as a dependable team member in a fast-paced acute care environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license (license to submit required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (with at least 1 year in a PCU/stepdown setting)
• BLS and ACLS required
• Comfortable titrating drips and managing common critical infusions
• Ability to interpret cardiac monitoring and pass dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts required)
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Willingness to float between MedSurg Tele and PCU across campuses and work nights
• Must meet radius/employment restriction: no FT/PT/PRN with any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and ECG/dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV drip titration and infusion management
• Telemetry and stepdown (PCU) patient care
• Post-procedural and post-Cath/CABG patient management
• Patient assessment, medication administration and ambulatory care skills
• Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP/Heated High Flow respiratory support
• Experience working in a float pool and adapting to multiple unit workflows
• Proficient documentation in Cerner and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
