Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care across PCU, MedSurg Telemetry, and stepdown settings, including post-procedural and cardiac patients
• Interpret cardiac telemetry strips and promptly escalate rhythm changes
• Titrate and manage common drips such as heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine and insulin per protocol
• Float between campuses and units (including ED holds) while maintaining continuity and patient safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, monitor techs, and charge nurses to optimize patient outcomes
• Provide compassionate care to geriatric and orthopedic patients and support post-CABG/post-cath recovery
• Complete required orientation and competency checks, including dysrhythmia exam
• Utilize Cerner for accurate documentation and handoffs

Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in Arizona (or eligibility to obtain AZ licensure)
• BLS and ACLS certification required prior to start
• Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required; 2 years clinical experience preferred
• Comfortable titrating drips and managing complex cardiac patients
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts (minimum 80%) prior to contract start
• Must not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities within the past year (radius rule applies)
• Ability to float across MedSurg Telemetry, PCU, and stepdown areas and adapt to variable assignments

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Drip titration and vasoactive medication management
• Telemetry monitoring and stepdown care practices
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record
• Comfort with CPAP/BiPAP and heated high-flow oxygen modalities
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
• Team communication, bedside documentation, and patient/family education
