Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day & night): 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; 6-week schedule cycle, every other weekend required, holiday rotation with permanent staff
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for PCU/stepdown adult patients admitted from the ER
- Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to quickly identify changes in patient condition
- Safely titrate IV medications such as heparin, octreotide, and insulin per unit protocols
- Manage admissions, transfers, and discharges efficiently to keep patient flow moving
- Document care accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity and clear communication
- Collaborate with charge nurses, nursing aids, monitor techs, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
- Respond to codes and operate specialty equipment such as code carts and LUCAS machines when needed
- Float to Med/Surg, ICU, or ED as appropriate, demonstrating adaptability and clinical judgment
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to submit license at time of application)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with PCU/stepdown, telemetry, or similar acute care experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required and NIHSS certification required
- Comfortable titrating drips and managing cardiac and stroke patients
- Prior EPIC charting experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license required at submittal
- Ability to pass an orientation open-book skills exam with a 90% score (per unit policy)
- Willingness to comply with facility policies including no artificial nails while providing patient care
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN not required for submission
- Active RN license in appropriate jurisdiction
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
- Competence with IV medication titration and drip management
- Experience with stroke care protocols (NIHSS knowledge)
- Proficient EPIC documentation and electronic charting habits
- Familiarity with code cart management and emergency response
- Comfort using specialty equipment: LUCAS, Hoyer lift, Sit-to-Stand
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient-centered bedside manner
- Ability to prioritize in a high-flow unit with frequent admissions and discharges
