Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to assigned patients while following facility protocols
• Perform timely and accurate patient assessments, including neurologic exams using NIHSS when indicated
• Administer medications and treatments safely, documenting thoroughly in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Maintain required certifications and complete Trinity competency checklists and specialty testing
• Participate in admissions, discharges, and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Support infection prevention through adherence to immunization, fit testing, and testing requirements

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license for Iowa (or compact license where applicable)
• BLS certification (required)
• NIHSS certification (required)
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Current fit test and Trinity Color Vision as required by the facility
• Up-to-date immunizations or acceptable documentation: COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap
• Negative Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen and required health/physical documentation
• Ability to pass License/Certificate Verification

Education

• Active RN license required
• ADN or BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills, especially for neurologic/stroke-focused care (NIHSS experience helpful)
• Proficient medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting in electronic health records
• Ability to follow facility policies, safety protocols, and infection control practices
• Effective communication and teamwork with physicians, therapists, and support staff
• Adaptability to changing schedules and a fast-paced clinical environment
