Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients’ cardiopulmonary status and respond with timely interventions
• Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and other respiratory equipment
• Deliver respiratory treatments and airway management that improve patient breathing and outcomes
• Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases and contribute to care plans based on results
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to deliver coordinated care
• Maintain accurate documentation, complete Trinity competency checklists, and follow infection control protocols

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license or eligible for License/Certificate Verification in Iowa
• BLS required and ACLS required
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Current occupational health requirements: 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon), Fit Test, Trinity Specific Covid Questionnaire
• Up-to-date immunizations: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, Tdap
• Successful Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen and any required physical/health statement

Education

• Associate degree or diploma in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program preferred
• CRT/RRT credential preferred or equivalent clinical certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Airway suctioning and noninvasive respiratory support
• Arterial blood gas collection and interpretation
• Patient assessment and care planning
• Infection prevention and control practices
• Proficiency with documentation and following facility protocols
• Strong communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary clinical teams
• Comfort completing facility-specific competency testing and checklists
