Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Night 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule set by unit (unit schedulers assign travelers), every-other weekend, holidays as needed. Guaranteed hours: 36 hours/week.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Stepdown (PCU) setting
• Assess, monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms, acting quickly on changes
• Titrate IV drips and administer medications safely according to unit protocols
• Coordinate admissions, discharges and transfers while managing a busy patient flow
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Perform bedside reporting and hourly rounding to enhance patient experience and safety
• Serve as a practiced, calm resource during acute events including STEMI and stroke
• Support unit staffing by floating to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care as needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska (compact license acceptable if applicable)
• BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care/stepdown or telemetry nursing experience
• Proven experience with telemetry interpretation and titratable IV drips
• Experience charting in EPIC (electronic health record) preferred
• Valid driver’s license required at submittal (radius rule enforced)
• Willingness to pass a skills exam during orientation (open-book; 90% required)
• Must NOT be currently employed FT/PT/PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI/Dignity)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• IV drip titration (Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Insulin, etc.)
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and documentation workflows
• Experience with BiPAP, Airvo and respiratory support modalities
• Strong prioritization, clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient advocacy
• Ability to manage fast-paced admissions/discharges and complex patient loads
