Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to SIMCU patients during night shifts
• Continuously assess patients, monitor telemetry and clinical status, and promptly report changes
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to implement individualized care plans
• Perform and document thorough nursing assessments, progress notes, and care plans in the electronic medical record
• Respond effectively to emergencies and assist with procedures as needed
• Support transitions of care including admissions, discharges, and handoffs with clarity and professionalism
• Participate in specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical proficiency

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of practice required)
• BLS (required)
• ACLS (required)
• Completion of facility-specific license/certificate verification
• Successful completion of specialty competency testing and skills checklist (per Trinity requirements)
• Current fit testing, immunizations, and required health screenings per employer policy
• Previous experience in step-down/monitoring or critical care settings preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) — program completion and active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment for acutely ill/step-down patients
• Proficiency with monitoring equipment and cardiac telemetry observation
• Competence in medication administration, IV therapy, and post-procedural care
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and the care team
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation practices
• Infection control practices and adherence to hospital safety standards
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond calmly in urgent situations
