Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based postpartum care to mothers and their newborns
• Monitor and document maternal and neonatal vital signs and clinical status
• Educate and support new parents on newborn care, feeding and postpartum recovery
• Recognize and escalate changes in patient condition promptly to the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants and interdisciplinary staff for seamless care
• Maintain accurate, timely patient records and follow facility policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license appropriate for practice in the facility’s state
• Minimum 1 year of experience in postpartum / mom-baby nursing (as listed)
• Comfort and competence working with postpartum mothers and newborns
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in postpartum maternal assessments and newborn care basics
• Knowledge of breastfeeding support and parent education principles
• Ability to triage and identify common postpartum/newborn complications
• Patient education, bedside manner, and teamwork-focused attitude
• Familiarity with standard charting and documentation practices
