Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage progressive care and telemetry patients with attention to cardiac status and changing conditions
• Titrate and safely administer cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerine, diltiazem, amiodarone, dopamine and dobutamine
• Manage drips including insulin and heparin while maintaining accurate documentation in Cerner EMR
• Perform bedside procedures as needed, including bedside cardioversion, with strong adherence to safety protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, communicate changes in patient condition and participate in handoffs
• Provide compassionate patient and family education for cardiac diagnoses, post-procedure care and discharge planning
• Support unit workflow including relief charge responsibilities when needed and assist in orientation to unit policies

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state-appropriate) required
• Minimum 2 years progressive care, stepdown or telemetry nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS required (current certifications)
• Comfort and experience with titratable cardiac IV medications and infusion pumps
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred
• Ability to work every other weekend and float to MedSurg, Stepdown, COVID unit and ER holding as needed
• Preferred: experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) and relief charge experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
• Proven competence with cardiac medication titration and IV infusion management
• Experience with bedside cardioversion and post-procedure monitoring
• Comfort using Baxter pumps, Zoll monitors and bladder scanners
• Excellent clinical judgment, prioritization and patient advocacy
• Clear documentation skills within Cerner EMR and effective interdisciplinary communication
