Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients as a PACU RN
• Continuously monitor and assess vital signs, level of consciousness, airway and pain, and intervene promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons and the perioperative team to coordinate safe recoveries
• Educate and reassure families about recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Participate in orientation and unit training to maintain high standards of pediatric perioperative care
• Escalate changes in patient condition and initiate emergency protocols when needed

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Ohio (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) strongly preferred
• Previous PACU or post-anesthesia experience caring for pediatric patients preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and familiarity with pediatric airway and pain management
• Comfort with electronic medical record documentation and teamwork in a fast-paced unit

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric post-anesthesia assessment and monitoring
• Airway management and post-op respiratory care for children
• IV therapy, medication administration and pain management techniques
• Clear, compassionate communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize, triage and respond quickly to changes in patient status
• Familiarity with perioperative workflows and safety protocols
