Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day). On-call rotation: minimum 1x/week weekday call 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (max 2 calls/week). Weekend rotation approximately once every 5th weekend with 24-hour weekend coverage (Saturday & Sunday). Must be able to respond on-site within 30 minutes when called.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for cardiac patients using the nursing process
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, anesthesiologists and perioperative team members
• Direct and guide OR technicians and other personnel to maintain efficient, organized cases
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulations, and professional standards in the OR
• Participate in performance improvement activities, unit meetings, and continuing education
• Maintain accurate documentation and perform required competency and skills checks
• Respond promptly to on-call notifications and come on-site within the required 30-minute window

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license (state-specific; Nursys verification noted)
• Current BLS (AHA) required upon hire and maintained
• ACLS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire and maintained
• PALS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire and maintained
• Minimum of 1 year perioperative experience (cardiac experience required)
• Ability and willingness to take required on-call shifts (including night and occasional weekend coverage)
• CNOR (AORN) certification preferred
• BSN preferred
• Completion of required health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, TB, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap) and drug screening

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Cardiac surgical procedures and specialized instrumentation
• Patient assessment and care coordination in the OR setting
• Proficiency with rhythm interpretation and basic pharmacology (Prime exams listed)
• Strong communication, teamwork and leadership in high-acuity settings
• Familiarity with OR documentation, competency checklists and core competencies
