Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor pediatric and adult med/surg patients, recognizing changes in condition quickly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient-centered plans
• Provide compassionate education and support to patients and families
• Prioritize and coordinate nursing care to ensure safe, efficient patient flow
• Maintain accurate electronic charting and handoffs to support continuity of care
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact RN licensure as applicable
• Recent Med/Surg experience; pediatric experience a strong plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
• Demonstrated clinical assessment skills and sound critical thinking
• Ability to work independently on per diem assignments and adapt to different unit needs
• Up-to-date immunizations and health screening per facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Comfort caring for pediatric patients within a med/surg setting
• Effective communication with patients, families, and care teams
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation best practices
• Time management, prioritization, and the ability to handle fast-paced situations
• Commitment to infection control and patient safety practices
