Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the Med/Surg unit
• Assess patients regularly and create individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes, and escalate concerns promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document care comprehensively in the electronic health record with attention to detail
• Participate in unit initiatives to improve quality, safety, and patient experience

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN license where applicable
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS and other specialty certifications a plus
• Clinical experience in Medical-Surgical nursing preferred (new grads with strong clinical training welcome to apply)
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and IV/medication administration skills
• Effective communication and teamwork skills in fast-paced settings
• Ability to meet physical demands of 12-hour shifts and provide safe patient care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Completion of an accredited nursing program and successful NCLEX-RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg patient care and common medical conditions
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and accurate documentation
• Skilled in patient assessment, clinical prioritization, and care planning
• Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
• Strong time management and organization during high-acuity periods
