Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (nights); schedule varies with every-other-weekend requirement and limited block scheduling available; travelers will be scheduled. (Day shift coverage exists 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM on unit, but this opening is for nights.)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients across MedSurg and Telemetry, keeping a sharp eye on clinical status
• Administer medications and manage medication titration including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine
• Operate and manage PCA pumps and IV drip titration safely and accurately
• Monitor telemetry and maintain tele-awareness to identify rhythm changes and escalate appropriately
• Document patient care thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC
• Perform hourly rounding and prioritize responsiveness to improve patient experience
• Manage admissions, discharges and multiple competing tasks while maintaining compassionate care
• Collaborate with charge nurses, tele techs, and patient care techs to deliver coordinated care
• Float to other MedSurg areas when needed and adapt quickly to changing unit needs
• Follow unit policies and safety protocols, including fingernail and infection prevention standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience preferred (posting lists 2 years)
• BLS (AHA) required at time of submittal
• ACLS preferred
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used for radius verification)
• Comfortable with IV drip titration and PCA pump management
• Tele/monitor awareness and experience in MedSurg/Telemetry or Ortho/Trauma settings
• Able to pass orientation pass/fail exam (90% required) and complete unit orientation
• Able to work every-other-weekend and meet floating requirements
• Must not currently be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity)

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• Nursing diploma/ADN or BSN accepted (BSN not listed as required in posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment for MedSurg and telemetry patients
• Proficient in EPIC charting and documentation
• Telemetry monitoring fundamentals and rhythm recognition awareness
• Medication administration and titration knowledge (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine)
• PCA pump setup and troubleshooting
• Ability to manage high-volume days with multiple discharges/admissions
• Culturally competent care for diverse patient populations (Spanish, Karen, Burmese presence on unit)
• Experience working with mechanical lifts and safe patient handling
