Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill patients, interpreting vital signs and advanced monitoring data to guide care
• Administer medications and titrate drips safely, following ACLS and unit protocols
• Manage ventilators and respiratory support in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Respond rapidly to code events and emergencies with calm, skilled interventions
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care plans with physicians, therapists and case management to optimize outcomes
• Document timely, accurate clinical records and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Educate patients and families with compassion about diagnoses, procedures and discharge plans
• Maintain unit safety and infection control standards while mentoring peers and supporting unit goals

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (ability to obtain Iowa licensure prior to start if required)
• Critical care experience in an ICU setting (ICU listed as core skill)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; TNCC and NIHSS required per job checklist
• Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing, skills checklist and required pre-employment screens
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to complete Fit Test, 10-panel drug screen and health statement prior to start
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills in high-acuity environments

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced knowledge of ICU monitoring, hemodynamics and ventilator management
• Familiarity with ACLS protocols and rapid response/code procedures
• Skilled in neurological assessment including stroke scales (NIHSS) and trauma assessment (TNCC)
• Proficient clinical documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Ability to manage complex medication drips, titrations and infusion devices safely
• Infection prevention practices and adherence to immunization/health screening requirements
