Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care to adult ICU patients, including post-CABG and complex cardiac cases
• Manage ventilators and perform advanced ventilator care for ventilated patients
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and titrate therapies based on patient status
• Respond to emergencies with ACLS/BLS protocols and lead resuscitation efforts when needed
• Coordinate care with intensivists, CV surgeons, respiratory therapy, and the multidisciplinary team
• Deliver compassionate bedside care and maintain a thorough bedside shift report with whiteboard updates
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in Meditech (documentation system used by the unit)

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU/critical care nursing experience (CVICU experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-op cardiac care (CABG)
• Comfortable working in very high-acuity settings (ECMO, heart transplant experience a plus)
• Willingness to float to other ICUs/PCU as needed and work rotating weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory care
• Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive drips
• Cardiac post-op care including post-CABG management
• ECMO fundamentals and high-acuity cardiac support familiarity
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Strong critical thinking, quick assessment, and prioritization skills
• Effective communication for multidisciplinary collaboration and bedside reporting
• Familiarity with CVICU workflows and robotic/DaVinci surgical post-op care
