Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Perform rapid, accurate patient assessments and communicate changes to the care team
• Administer treatments and medications safely and document in Meditech EMR
• Triage and prioritize emergency cases while maintaining EMTALA compliance
• Provide patient and family education and coordinate discharge planning
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers and multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain patient privacy, safety protocols, and report child/adult abuse per policy
• Demonstrate readiness to float to other competent units as needed

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in an acute care hospital, preferably ED
• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Current ACLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Current PALS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certification (DCI/BVP also listed)
• Meditech EMR experience
• NIHSS, EDAP and EDAP II certifications preferred or required per checklist
• Ability to pass required screenings: drug screen, TB testing, immunizations, fit testing

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department nursing practices and rapid patient assessment
• Strong familiarity with Meditech electronic medical record
• EMTALA regulations and emergency triage processes
• Telemetry and critical care observation principles
• Rhythm interpretation and basic pharmacology knowledge
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Comfort managing behavioral challenges with BVP skills
