Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, primarily Nights 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM (1830-0630) with Day shift option 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM (0630-1830); schedule set by manager, every-other weekend and every-other holiday, may float to other inpatient units excluding Maternity/NICU
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $67 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care for post-op open heart, thoracic, and complex vascular patients
- Assess and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms independently
- Titrate and manage vasoactive drips, paralytics, sedation, narcotics, and antiarrhythmics safely and effectively
- Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and advanced respiratory support, escalating to respiratory therapy and intensivists as needed
- Care for and monitor patients on ECMO, CRRT, Impella, and IABP support following unit protocols
- Document thorough, timely patient care in Epic to support continuity and quality of care
- Collaborate with ICU team members, surgeons, intensivists, and cath lab staff to coordinate complex care plans
- Float to other inpatient units as needed while maintaining high standards of care
- Complete unit orientation and demonstrate competency by passing the open-book skills exam with required score
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Nebraska
- Minimum 1 year of experience caring for CVICU or comparable cardiac surgical/critical care patients
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required
- Proven ability to titrate drips and manage vasoactive infusions
- Experience with ECMO, CRRT, Impella, IABP, and ventilator troubleshooting highly preferred
- Comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips independently
- Driver's license required at time of submittal
- Willingness to comply with facility policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy) and radius/employment restrictions
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required
- BSN preferred but not required
- Active RN license in Nebraska
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Drip titration and vasoactive medication management
- Ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Experience with ECMO and CRRT therapies
- Familiarity with Impella and IABP hemodynamic support devices
- Proficient Epic charting and electronic documentation
- Strong critical thinking, rapid assessment, and multidisciplinary communication
- Ability to work independently in a 1:1 nurse:patient ICU setting
