Progressive Care Unit RN
Location: Great Falls, MT

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating day and night shifts; specific start/end times vary by schedule (Day/Night).
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and provide high-quality nursing care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in the Progressive Care Unit
- Monitor telemetry and interpret EKGs to detect changes in cardiac status quickly
- Manage complex devices and lines including arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and multiple IV pumps
- Provide short-term ventilatory support and care for patients with noninvasive and invasive ventilation needs
- Administer and manage IV medications safely, including heparin, diltiazem, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, and dopamine
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning
- Act as a clinical leader on the unit: provide direction to nursing and support staff and assist with precepting new team members
- Deliver compassionate, culturally sensitive care that addresses patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
Qualifications
- Current State of Montana RN licensure required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire
- Progressive care, telemetry, and critical care experience preferred
- Comfortable caring for patients with central/arterial lines, chest tubes, and ventilatory support
- Experience with IV medication management and multiple IV pump use
- Pediatric experience, EPNC and TNCC certifications are a plus
- Ability to function independently, follow policies with minimal supervision, and take on clinical leadership/preceptor roles
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and critical care nursing fundamentals
- Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
- Use and troubleshooting of advanced medical equipment (A-lines, invasive lines, chest tubes)
- IV medication management and familiarity with common infusions used in cardiac and critical care
- Discharge planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Clinical leadership, precepting, and clear communication with providers and support staff
