Physical Therapist - Acute Inpatient

Location: Bakersfield, CA

Start Date: 06-15-2026

End Date: 09-14-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM with occasional late shift 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM; one weekend every third weekend with Monday and Friday off that weekend

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and treatments to acute inpatients across Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ER units
Manage a caseload of 12+ patients per day, tailoring interventions to support recovery from general medical conditions, orthopedic surgeries, and neurological events
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
Document patient progress and adjust treatment plans to achieve functional goals
Educate patients and families on exercises and strategies to promote independence and prevent re-injury

Qualifications

Current California Physical Therapist license
Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
Previous acute inpatient PT experience required

Knowledge & Skills

Ability to assess and treat a variety of conditions including general deconditioning, TKA, THA, spinal surgery, general ortho, and CVA
Strong clinical reasoning and time management skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
