Shift Type: Primarily Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour day shift) with variable days; alternating weekends and holidays; rotating coverage between CHA main campus and hospital-based clinics (day shift)

Candidate Pay Rate: $32 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary collections accurately and compassionately to support patient care
• Label, process, and transport specimens promptly to maintain sample integrity
• Maintain accurate patient identification and documentation for every draw
• Communicate clearly with nursing staff and providers about specimen needs and results
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and team members
• Help train or mentor newer staff when opportunities arise to share your expertise
• Adapt to rotating clinic assignments and changing patient needs while maintaining high-quality care

Qualifications

• Current phlebotomy certification or relevant clinical certification (required)
• Active state licensure or ability to obtain required Montana credentials
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous phlebotomy experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred
• Comfort with variable schedules, alternating weekends, and occasional holiday coverage
• Strong attention to detail, excellent bedside manner, and good communication skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven venipuncture and capillary collection technique
• Knowledge of specimen handling, labeling, and chain-of-custody procedures
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation best practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize in a busy clinical environment
