Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents—assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Support daily living activities including toileting, feeding, and safe transfers with dignity
• Monitor and record vital signs, behaviors, and changes in condition accurately and promptly
• Follow individualized care plans and communicate changes to nursing staff and families
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and adhere to infection control best practices
• Assist with mealtime set-up and safe feeding, honoring resident preferences and dietary needs
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to enhance resident quality of life

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in the state of Maryland (or eligible to obtain)
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Clean background check and required immunizations as per facility policy
• Compassionate patient-focused mindset and strong communication skills
• Ability to lift/assist residents safely and follow safe patient handling procedures
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
• Skill in personal care, ADLs, safe transfers, and fall prevention
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, observing changes, and reporting
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and the care team
• Dependability, attention to detail, and good documentation habits
