Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Assist surgical team during procedures by anticipating needs and passing instruments
• Maintain strict sterile technique and infection control practices at all times
• Verify instrument counts and assist with safe turnover between cases
• Collaborate with nurses and surgeons to ensure patient safety and workflow efficiency
• Complete required documentation and participate in perioperative quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Ability to pass license/certificate verification and Trinity specialty competency testing
• Must meet pre-employment requirements: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, color vision check, and physical/health statement
• Current immunizations or documentation: Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, and 2-step PPD or IGRA
• Prior operating room or surgical technologist experience preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Familiarity with perioperative protocols and operating room workflows
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure environments
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and adapt to changing case schedules
• Detail-oriented approach to counts, documentation, and equipment handling
• Comfort with specialty-specific competency testing and continued skills validation
