Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide on-site prevention, evaluation, and management of athletic injuries at a contracted high school — timely, focused care that keeps students safe and active
• Perform thorough musculoskeletal examinations, collect histories, diagnose injuries, and create individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans
• Manage concussion assessments and supervise safe return-to-play progressions with clear communication to athletes, parents, and coaches
• Document evaluations and treatments accurately and promptly to support continuity of care and medicolegal standards
• Conduct occupational health services including post-offer employment testing (POETs), functional assessments, and job-specific conditioning programs
• Coordinate schedules and coverage for events, working closely with school staff and clinicians to ensure reliable coverage
• Serve as a physician extender in the orthopedic clinic: take histories, assist with scheduling surgeries, and educate patients
• Analyze injury root causes and recommend prevention strategies to reduce future risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology required
• Must hold and maintain a current Athletic Trainer license in Wisconsin
• Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (ATC) certification required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1+ year related work experience
• Valid driver's license required
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as a self-starter

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology

Knowledge & Skills

• Intermediate to expert computer proficiency for documentation and scheduling
• Proficient in musculoskeletal examinations and functional assessments
• Experienced in concussion evaluation and management
• Knowledgeable in emergency care and occupational health processes
• Skilled at interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and compassionate patient interactions
• Comfortable working in both school-based athletic settings and orthopedic clinic environments
