Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate personal care to residents, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any abnormalities promptly
• Implement restorative care plans and assist with range-of-motion and mobility support
• Monitor and document patient conditions, behaviors, and incidents clearly and timely
• Follow infection control, universal precautions, and safe body mechanics at all times
• Assist the interdisciplinary treatment team with patient assessments and care activities
• Support activities of daily living (ADLs) and encourage resident independence
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members both orally and in writing

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification in good standing
• At least 6 months experience working in a long-term care (LTC) facility
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers — obtain within six months of employment if not already current
• Familiarity with basic medical and nursing terminology
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand simple sentences in English and follow written/oral instructions
• Previous Hawaii experience is a plus but not required
• Demonstrated patience, tact, emotional stability, and the ability to work as part of a care team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Taking vital signs and measuring output accurately
• Infection control and universal precautions
• Personal hygiene, bodily care, and ADL support
• Restorative care techniques and use of assistive devices
• Accurate patient care documentation and reporting
• Good observation skills and cultural awareness
• Oral and written communication with patients and team members
