Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed radiation treatments safely and accurately to patients, following physician treatment plans
• Operate and quality check linear accelerators, tomotherapy units, CT simulator, and brachytherapy equipment
• Provide vigilant patient monitoring during treatment, including care for ambulatory and inpatient patients
• Perform Stereotactic Radiosurgery, total body irradiation, and both high and low dose rate brachytherapy as needed
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, nurses, and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated patient care
• Maintain strict radiation safety protocols and document treatments and QA activities thoroughly
• Educate and support patients and families about treatment steps, safety, and what to expect during therapy
• Assist with sedation and analgesia care when required and operate ancillary devices such as the blood irradiator

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license required
• Current CPR certification at the Healthcare Professional level required
• Experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred
• Proven ability to operate linear accelerators, CT simulators, tomotherapy, and brachytherapy units
• Comfortable caring for both ambulatory and inpatient populations and providing intensive monitoring
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting, standing, and repetitive motions

Education

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license (required)
• CPR Healthcare Professional certification (required)

• CT simulator operation and patient simulation techniques
• Brachytherapy (HDR and LDR) fundamentals
