Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Provide compassionate hands-on care tailored to the needs of older adults
• Support safe transfers and mobility assistance while using proper body mechanics
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
• Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
• Help create a warm, respectful environment that preserves resident dignity
• Participate in care plan implementation and follow established protocols
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive their nutrition and hydration needs

Qualifications

• Class: GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) as indicated in the order
• Current state GNA or equivalent certification expected per facility requirements
• Demonstrated experience or comfort working with geriatric populations preferred
• Basic ability to read, write, and document care accurately
• Willingness to complete facility orientation, background check, and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with the care team

Knowledge & Skills

• Geriatric care principles and respectful elder care practices
• Assistance with ADLs, transfers, and mobility support
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Infection control and safe patient handling awareness
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Observation skills to notice subtle changes in resident condition
• Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to care
