Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ functional abilities and develop individualized occupational therapy plans
• Implement therapeutic interventions to improve independence in activities of daily living
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
• Document progress accurately and communicate changes in condition to the team
• Educate patients and caregivers on strategies, adaptive equipment, and home programs
• Participate in discharge planning to support safe transitions back to the community
• Contribute to a positive, motivating rehab environment for patients and families

Qualifications

• Valid Occupational Therapy license for Massachusetts (required)
• OTR credential and/or NBCOT certification preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience in skilled nursing or inpatient rehab settings preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and team collaboration
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and background checks

Education

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or entry-level Master’s/Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
• Graduation from an accredited OT program and required state licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient assessment and goal-directed treatment planning
• Proficiency with ADL retraining, therapeutic exercise, and adaptive equipment
• Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and following facility protocols
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions
• Ability to triage clinical priorities and adapt treatment plans as needed
