Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and compassion
- Take and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team promptly
- Support mobility and transfers safely using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Help create a calm, home-like environment and engage residents in social activities
- Document care accurately in the patient record and communicate changes during shift handoffs
- Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and family members to support individualized care plans
Qualifications
- GNA certification or state-recognized Geriatric Nursing Assistant credential (required)
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Demonstrated experience caring for older adults preferred but new grads who completed a GNA program are encouraged to apply
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (as required by facility onboarding)
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent state-approved training
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and personal care for elderly residents
- Knowledge of infection control practices and safe patient handling
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, feeding assistance, toileting support
- Good documentation habits and attention to detail
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience with memory-impaired residents
- Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
