Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room with sterile instruments and supplies, ensuring everything is ready for surgery
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and anticipating surgeon needs during procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique and infection control practices throughout cases
• Instrument count and documentation to support patient safety and accurate record-keeping
• Assist with equipment setup, troubleshooting basic OR devices, and reporting issues promptly
• Support efficient turnover between cases to help the team stay on schedule

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technologist program (preferred/required depending on facility)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Current immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
• Comfort working in a fast-paced operating room and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent clinical training

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Familiarity with operating room protocols and safety procedures
• Good communication and teamwork skills in high-stakes situations
• Ability to perform accurate instrument counts and maintain surgical documentation
• Basic familiarity with OR equipment setup and troubleshooting
