Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure the sterile field is preserved throughout procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently to support smooth case flow
• Perform counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures
• Assist with room turnover and ensure timely set-up for the next case
• Communicate clearly with the surgical team and nursing staff to prioritize patient safety
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (or equivalent education/experience)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred; willingness to pursue certification encouraged
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtainable upon hire
• Previous OR experience preferred — pediatric surgical experience is a strong plus
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a patient-first mindset
• Ability to pass hospital background checks, immunization, and credentialing requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and sterile processing knowledge
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments, supplies, and OR workflows
• Ability to anticipate clinical needs and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Clear communication and teamwork skills within multidisciplinary surgical teams
• Basic familiarity with pediatric surgical considerations preferred
