Shift Type: Day shift, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM; schedule set by OR supervisor (days), with rotating weekend coverage and call responsibilities. Approx. 6-7 call shifts per month and 2-3 weekends over a 13-week assignment. (Day shift)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field for a high-volume mix of adult and pediatric cases including total joints, robotics, laparoscopic, urology, hand, foot, and breast reconstruction
• Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during procedures with precision and focus
• Efficiently turnover cases to keep the OR running smoothly and reduce delays
• Operate, manage, and maintain surgical instruments and specialty equipment, including robotic systems
• Accurately document perioperative care and procedures in EPIC
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide dependable weekend coverage when scheduled
• Follow and enforce department policies, including infection control and fingernail/artificial nail requirements
• Contribute to a positive culture by being a team player, adaptable, and attentive to detail

Qualifications

• BLS certification required at time of submission
• CST certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of OR/surgical technologist experience (able to handle total joints, robotics, laparoscopic cases, urology, hand and foot, and breast reconstructions)
• Driver's license required at submittal to meet the 50-mile radius rule
• Willingness to take call, including potential short-notice coverage
• Able to complete 1-3 days of unit-specific orientation and meet department standards
• Must not be currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI or Dignity)
• Adherence to facility appearance and infection control policies

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven sterile technique and perioperative care knowledge
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and documentation
• Strong case turnover skills and OR efficiency
• Experience with robotics and total joint procedures
• Comfortable with a variety of specialties: ortho, general, OBGYN, plastics, ENT, urology, hand, podiatry, breast reconstruction
• Ability to work independently when no charge nurse is assigned
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary teamwork
• Attention to detail, speed, and reliability under high-volume conditions
