Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care for adult patients, monitoring cardiac rhythms and responding to changes quickly
• Perform thorough patient assessments, document findings clearly, and communicate care plans with the interdisciplinary team
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely, following ACLS/BLS protocols when required
• Lead patient and family education on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning to support recovery and reduce readmissions
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain unit standards
• Adhere to infection control and occupational health requirements to keep patients and staff safe

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Iowa) or compact RN eligible
• BLS (Basic Life Support) current
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) current
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications (as listed) required or must be obtained per facility policy
• Med/Surg and telemetry experience preferred given the unit specialty
• Successful completion of Trinity-specific competency testing and skills checklist as part of onboarding
• Ability to pass occupational health requirements (fit test, drug screen, immunizations, TB/IGRA, etc.)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - per facility preference

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Medical-surgical nursing assessment and interventions
• ACLS/BLS emergency response and resuscitation skills
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and time management
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
• Comfort with unit-specific competency testing and checklist-based skills validation
