Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in cardiovascular operating room cases, maintaining a sterile field and anticipating surgeon needs
• Prepare and organize instruments and supplies specific to cardiovascular surgery
• Monitor perioperative patient condition and communicate changes promptly to the team
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure safe workflows
• Document accurate intraoperative records and handoffs for continuity of care
• Support patient safety initiatives and contribute to quality improvement efforts in the CVOR

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (required)
• Cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) experience (position lists CVOR specialty)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant clinical experience as indicated in the job posting
• Current BLS required; ACLS and specialty perioperative certifications preferred
• Demonstrated ability to function in high-acuity surgical environments and strong teamwork skills
• Ability to pass facility-specific orientation and competency assessments

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and sterile technique
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and intraoperative workflow
• Skilled in patient monitoring and recognizing hemodynamic changes
• Clear verbal and written communication for effective handoffs and teamwork
• Ability to follow OR policies, safety protocols, and documentation standards
• Adaptability to fast-paced, high-stakes clinical situations
