Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ respiratory status and deliver compassionate, evidence-based respiratory care
• Administer respiratory therapies and treatments, including oxygen delivery and aerosolized medications
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Monitor patient response, interpret clinical data (including ABGs), and escalate concerns to the team
• Document care accurately in the medical record and communicate clearly with multidisciplinary staff
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Participate in orientation and training activities to maintain a high standard of care

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist credential (CRT or RRT) and eligibility or current licensure in Missouri
• BLS required; ACLS and neonatal/pediatric certifications a plus depending on unit needs
• Experience in acute care or hospital-based respiratory care is preferred
• Comfortable operating ventilators and other respiratory support equipment
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and non-invasive ventilation
• Oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, and airway clearance techniques
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation and patient assessment
• Infection control practices and safety protocols
• Clinical documentation and basic EMR navigation
• Collaborative care and effective interdisciplinary communication
