Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients in the step-down unit
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, vital signs, and patient status changes
• Implement and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and other treatments safely and accurately
• Communicate clearly with patients and families, educating them about care and discharge plans
• Respond promptly to patient changes and escalate concerns to providers as needed
• Document patient care thoroughly and professionally in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (active and unencumbered); Louisiana license preferred or ability to obtain
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) preferred or encouraged
• Experience in a step-down, telemetry, or progressive care setting preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively on a fast-paced unit

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration, and patient assessment
• Comfortable with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple patients safely
• Team-focused attitude with strong patient advocacy skills
