Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down/SDU setting with confidence and compassion
• Perform focused assessments and monitor patients using cardiac/telemetry monitoring
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately while following policies
• Communicate clearly and professionally with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients and families
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns when appropriate
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to drive better outcomes

Qualifications

• Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact privilege eligibility
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS and/or PALS a plus depending on unit needs
• Experience working in a Step-Down Unit (SDU), telemetry, progressive care, or ICU preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and patient prioritization skills
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; able to collaborate across disciplines
• Comfortable with cardiac monitoring and managing moderately complex patients

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Completion of an accredited nursing program and active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and interpreting basic cardiac rhythms
• Proficient in medication administration, IV therapy and titratable drips as applicable
• Skilled at patient assessment, escalating changes, and bedside clinical decision-making
• Accurate and timely electronic health record documentation
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, acuity-driven environment
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient safety principles
