Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for patients in the Step-Down Unit
• Assess patient status frequently and intervene promptly when changes occur
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatments, and discharge plans
• Utilize clinical judgment to prioritize tasks and escalate concerns when necessary
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to unit protocols and policies

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (required)
• Experience or familiarity with Step-Down Unit (SDU) or progressive care preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred
• Strong assessment skills and ability to manage higher-acuity patients
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to unit scheduling needs

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of progressive/step-down patient care and monitoring
• Proficiency in patient assessment, telemetry monitoring, and post-op care
• Medication administration and IV management skills
• Clinical documentation and electronic health record familiarity
• Critical thinking and rapid decision-making in acute-care settings
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
