Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit, monitoring and responding to changes in condition
• Perform thorough assessments and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to create and execute individualized care plans
• Manage advanced monitoring and interventions for patients transitioning between ICU and general floor care
• Administer medications and treatments safely, documenting accurately and communicating changes promptly
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, and discharge plans to promote recovery and reduce readmissions
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana, or eligibility to obtain one
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Experience working in a Step-Down Unit, progressive care, or telemetry setting is highly desirable
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and clinical judgment skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in cardiac/telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Knowledge of progressive care protocols and post-ICU patient needs
• Skilled in medication administration, IV therapy, and EHR documentation
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-acuity patients safely
• Familiarity with infection control standards and patient safety practices
