Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to patients in the step-down unit
• Assess and monitor patients' clinical status, interpreting data and responding promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the care team to execute care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Perform timely and thorough handoffs and communicate changes in patient condition
• Provide education and support to patients and families to promote recovery and safe transitions
• Participate in unit-based process improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum clinical experience caring for higher-acuity or step-down patients preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently on per diem shifts and integrate quickly into the unit team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, IV drips, and telemetry
• Solid understanding of post-operative care and escalation protocols
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Effective prioritization and time management during busy 12.5-hour shifts
• Collaborative teamwork and clear clinical communication
