Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide excellent, patient-centered nursing care for step-down unit patients
- Perform timely and accurate patient assessments and monitor telemetry
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document appropriately
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate when needed
- Educate patients and families about care plans, treatments, and discharge
- Maintain clear, accurate charting in the electronic medical record
- Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
- Primary skill set: RN experience and familiarity with Step-Down Unit care
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and intermediate acuity patients
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing diploma required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring
- Patient assessment and early recognition of deterioration
- IV therapy and medication administration best practices
- Care planning, prioritization, and time management
- Proficient documentation in electronic medical records
- Effective interdisciplinary communication
