Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide excellent, compassionate nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit
- Continuously monitor patient status and intervene promptly to ensure safety
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to implement care plans
- Perform thorough assessments and document changes in patient condition
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
- Support unit initiatives that improve patient outcomes and workflow
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or RN licensure eligible
- Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or encouraged
- Clinical experience in Step-Down, telemetry, or critical care settings preferred
- Strong assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced unit
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; dependable and patient-centered
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in patient monitoring and telemetry interpretation
- IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion pump familiarity
- Skilled in clinical assessment and early recognition of deterioration
- Comfortable working within electronic medical records and documentation standards
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
