Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for adult patients in the Step-Down Unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor telemetry and clinical status closely
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following facility protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and families to coordinate patient care
• Document patient care and clinical changes clearly and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning to support positive outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligible for state licensure
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or willingness to obtain
• Experience in Step-Down Unit, telemetry, or progressive care preferred
• Comfort working 12.5-hour shifts and adapting to unit staffing needs
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and effective communication
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation for acute and recovering cardiac patients
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and management of common arrhythmias
• IV medication administration and titration familiarity
• Patient assessment and early recognition of clinical deterioration
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
• Team collaboration, prioritization, and time management in a fast-paced unit
