Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality pre-operative and PACU nursing care for elective and urgent surgical patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs closely post-anesthesia
• Insert and manage IV access safely and efficiently
• Administer medications, titrate therapies, and document responses in EPIC
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure smooth patient flow
• Educate patients and families on pre-op instructions and post-op recovery expectations
• Maintain OR scrub/dress code standards and support sterile technique in the unit
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing competency validation to keep skills current

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible to work in Colorado
• Minimum 2 years of acute care/perioperative nursing experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA)
• Hands-on experience in Pre-Op/Phase 2 and IV insertion required
• Comfortable with EPIC charting and electronic medical records
• Willing and able to be in-state for orientation week; valid driver’s license within a 60 mile radius (DL must be submitted)

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative and PACU care principles
• Post-anesthesia patient assessment and recovery management
• IV insertion and vascular access management
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and documentation
• Acute care nursing, including common surgical diagnoses (general, ortho, ENT, urology, vascular)
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
• Ability to follow unit protocols, OR scrub/dress code, and safety procedures
