Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare pediatric patients for procedures with calm, compassionate care
Perform pre-op assessments and document findings accurately
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure smooth handoffs
Educate patients and families about pre-op instructions and what to expect
Maintain a safe, sterile environment and follow infection control policies
Respond promptly to patient needs and escalate concerns when appropriate

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or compact state eligibility
Experience or comfort working with pediatric patients in a pre-op or perioperative setting preferred
BLS required; PALS or pediatric-focused certifications highly desirable
Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
Ability to work independently on per-diem shifts and integrate quickly with unit teams

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric patient assessment and family-centered care
Pre-operative workflows and basic perioperative nursing principles
Medication administration and allergy/consent verification
Clear, compassionate communication with children and caregivers
Electronic medical record documentation and basic computer skills
Teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
