Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative care to pediatric patients, preparing them and their families for procedures
• Perform focused assessments and document findings clearly in the medical record
• Educate caregivers on pre-op instructions, expected procedures, and postoperative care basics
• Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiology, and perioperative staff to ensure smooth handoffs
• Verify patient identity, consent, and pre-op requirements to maintain safety and compliance
• Assist with pre-op medication administration and monitoring as per facility policy
• Support a positive, calm environment to reduce anxiety for children and their families

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio or compact state licensure preferred)
• Experience or strong interest in pediatric nursing and pre-operative care
• Comfort working per diem with flexible availability
• Orientation will be provided to familiarize you with facility processes
• Current BLS/CPR certification as required by facility policies (if not already, facility may assist with onboarding requirements)

Education

• Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ADN/BSN) — nursing degree required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication
• Knowledge of pre-operative protocols, patient screening, and safety checks
• Ability to document accurately and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
• Comfort with basic medication administration and monitoring in a pre-op setting
• Strong customer-service mindset for working with children and families
