Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care to pediatric patients, ensuring comfort and safety
• Perform focused assessments and document findings clearly in the patient record
• Prepare patients and families for procedures through clear, reassuring education
• Coordinate with surgical teams, anesthesia, and support staff to ensure smooth pre-op flow
• Monitor and manage pre-op orders, medications, and safety checks
• Support infection control and sterile preparation standards in the pre-op setting
• Contribute to a positive, family-centered environment that eases pediatric patients’ surgical experiences

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Washington state or compact RN license welcomed
• Experience caring for pediatric patients in a pre-operative or procedural setting
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Comfort with pediatric assessment, medication administration, and perioperative protocols
• Willingness to complete required orientation and facility onboarding
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric assessment and communication skills with children and families
• Knowledge of pre-operative procedures, safety checks, and perioperative nursing basics
• Skill in medication administration, IV starts, and pediatric dosing considerations
• Proficient documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) usage
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary surgical team
• Calm, patient-centered approach to working with anxious children and caregivers
